From reproductive rights to climate change in Big Tech, the independent is on the ground when history develops. Whether it is to investigate the finances of the Pro-Trump PAC of Elon Musk or to produce our latest documentary, “ The A Word ”, which highlights American women who fight for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to analyze the facts of messaging.

At such a critical moment in American history, we need journalists on the ground. Your donation allows us to continue sending journalists to talk to both sides of history.

Independence is reliable by Americans in the whole political spectrum. And unlike many other quality media, we choose not to prevent Americans from our reports and analyzes with payment walls. We believe that quality journalism should be available for everyone, paid by those who can afford it.

Scientists discovered a “plan” for the long life by decoding the genome, intestinal health and the lifestyle of the older person in the world who Died last year at 117.

Maria Branyas Morera, an American Catalan Women’s Caucasus, was born in March 1907 in San Francisco, in the United States, and died in August 2024.

While centenarians become more common thanks to health care progress, Supercenarians over 110 are still extremely rare.

Morera has exceeded the average life expectancy of Catalonia, in Spain, over 30 years. She attributed her longevity to “luck and good genetics” and “Avoid toxic people”.

A study still to be evaluated by peers analyzed his genes, microbiome and lifestyle to find the cells of his body worked as if they were 17 years younger than his real age. And his intestinal health was extremely young, resembling that of a child.

For the new study, the researchers have developed a complete analysis platform to assess different Morera fabrics for the activity of its genome and its proteins as well as the microbes that live there.

They compared the results with data from non -supercent populations. Scientists have found that the genome of the supercentenary probably contained variations linked to a stronger immune system, reduces the risk of cancer and protection against heart disease.

They particularly surveyed a type of modification of the activity of the genome which occurs normally in the body called methylation of DNA, which was linked in previous studies to aging.

“DNA methylation is probably the most studied epigenetic brand in biology and cellular disease, being also disturbed as we age,” noted the study.

To this extent, Morera was “an aberrant value”, presenting a “biological age much younger than its true chronological age” in three different tissues.

Examine blues areas for longevity

Morera also seemed to have an effective lipid metabolism with low levels of VLDL cholesterol and triglycerides, which are linked to heart disease.

“Overall, this data suggests that one of the reasons why our supercentenary has reached such a world record age was that his cells felt” felt “or behaved” as younger cells, with a biological age of a centenary, “noted the study.

She had a healthy intestine with what researchers described as an “anti-inflammatory” microbiome.

Morera’s intestine was rich in BifidobacteriumA type of bacteria known for its anti-inflammatory properties. “Microorganisms are essential to determine not only the composition of the metabolites of our body, but also inflammation, intestinal permeability, cognition and health of bones and muscles,” explained the researchers.

However, the exact link between the community of microbes living in its body and its longevity remains uncertain.

Morera had said that she avoided alcohol and smoking, appreciated daily walks and followed a diet Rich in fruits and vegetables, as well as three yogurts a day.

A growing corpus of research has found links between a Mediterranean diet rich in fiber and probiotics at a healthy intestine.

“The image emerging from our study shows that extremely advanced age and poor health are not intrinsically linked,” concluded the study.
