The Trump administration plans for new restrictions on the use by the executive power of scientific research include the emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence.
In Guidance dated MondayMichael Kratsios, director of the Bureau of the Scientific and Technological Policy of the White House, established a deadline of August 22 for the EPA, the NOAA and other agencies to report on their implementation of the executive decree of President Donald Trump published last month entitled “Restoration of the science of golden standards. “”
As the implementation takes place, the Kratsios wrote, the agency employees “must adopt rationalized approaches which achieve the objectives of the science of gold standards while minimizing administrative charges, avoiding excessive bureaucratic requirements which can divert the resources and hinder scientific progress.”
To this end, he added, agencies should explore the use of AI and other automated tools to manage disclosure of interest conflicts, quantify uncertainty and normalize the “transparent data declaration”.
