The Chamber on May 22 adopted the bill on budget reconciliation of the year 2025, the A great act of bill by one 215-214 vote. Legislation includes significant impacts on Medicaid and health insurance markets.
In a statement Shared with the congress and the media last night before the vote, the president and chief of decisions about the reduction of services, to reduce the staff and to potentially consider closing their doors.
“In particular, Medicaid’s legislative proposals severely restrict the use of legitimate state financing resources and additional payment programs, including the taxes of suppliers and state -led payments, under the pretext of the elimination of waste, fraud and mistreatment. We reject this notion, because these Medicaid financing programs are essential, legitimate and well established. For the Medicaid program of more than $ 700 billion over 10 years and will move the coverage of health care for millions of Americans, by passing them from the insured to the uninsured status.
“In addition to endangering access to care and services to patients, these abrupt policy changes would upset the budgets of the state government and threaten the viability of the health care system to provide essential services to this population. Since these changes are in force immediately after the promulgation of legislation, states will not have time to prepare for the significant financial impact on states’ budgets.
“Given the substantial reduction in payments and Medicaid reductions to health insurance markets, in particular by allowing improved tax credits to expire, millions of people will lose health care coverage. Consequently, the AHA urges the Chamber to reject efforts to dismantle these vital programs in the OBBBA and maintain access to health care for vulnerable and workers in our country. ”
The bill will now be examined by the Senate, where it is likely to undergo a series of changes before the place of a vote.
AHA sent a Special bulletin To members who include the AHA declaration and highlights the changes to the bill before its adoption, as well as the resources to help the efforts to advocate.
