You will soon see the name of Boston Medical Center on two other Massachusetts hospitals.
The Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton is renamed Boston Medical Center – South (BMC South) and St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton will become Boston Medical Center – Brighton (BMC Brighton).
The Boston Medical Center health system made the announcement on Thursday. He assumed the operations of the two hospitals last October after St. Elizabeth’s was seized by the state of the Massachusetts using an eminent domain. The two hospitals belonged to Steward Health Care, who bankrupt In May 2024. Steward CEO, Ralph de la Torre, resigned in September After being accused of having extracted hundreds of millions of dollars from the company. A new CBS investigation also found that Steward did not pay for vital supplies for its hospitals. The CEO’s resignation came after being contempt so as not to appear in front of the Senate.
BMC Health System said the new names and logos will begin to appear in the coming weeks and months.
