Upland, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – The emergency rooms of two hospitals in the county of Delaware stopped accepting patients on Wednesday.
All this is part of the Accelerated stop of the hospital system belonging to Prospect Medical Holdings. A judge approved the closing plan on Tuesday.
Taylor hospital is expected to close on Monday, while the last day for the Crozer-Cheter medical center is scheduled for May 2.
Already, hospitals near the main line health network, such as Riddle and Lankenau hospitals, see an increase in patients with most of the enigma.
The trauma centers closest to Crozer Health are at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Christianacare Hospital in Delaware and several hospitals located in Philadelphia, the closest being the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
“We do not expect a health system to close, but we expect a crisis to happen. We expect disasters,” said Shelly Buck, president of Hospital Riddle.
In relation: Crozer Health To Ferm Down, and operations could stop by early May
Buck says they added beds and worked closely with the Delaware County Council and neighboring health systems to prepare.
In addition, there is an expansion of their current emergency service. The hospital adds community health workers and encourages people dismissed by Crozer to apply.
“We always have emergency plans, personnel plans in place to take care of patients who enter our doors,” added Beck.
Robert Worthington represents paramedical paramedics within the Union Snap of the AP. He painted an adire image.
“Someone is going to die, that’s what’s going to happen. It’s not if, it’s when,” said Worthington.
He said that the layoffs have also come out, but its members continue to present themselves. The vital minutes of patients in trauma situations will be lost with longer response times.
DRE Monica Taylor, president of the County Council of Delaware, says that in addition to finding and transferring care to the residents of the county, they are also faced with a crater on health care and try to obtain the patients, among other challenges.
“The prospect does not respect the regulations in terms of calendar either. A typical hospital would take months to close and they make it two weeks,” said Taylor.
Thursday evening, there will be a community round table to help residents navigate the closure.
It will be organized by the County Health Service from Delaware to Chester City Hallfrom from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
