Although statins are the cornerstone of cholesterol treatment, lifestyle changes can be as effective or even more powerful as the drug to manage lipid levels.
A healthy and healthy diet incorporating healthy fibers and fats while reducing saturated fat can significantly improve lipid profiles, said GP and doctor, Dr. Olalekan Otulana.
These food changes constitute the basis of non -pharmaceutical cholesterol management but work better when combined with the exercise.
The expert also pointed out that as regards cholesterol, aerobic activities are particularly beneficial.

He told GB News: “Lifestyle changes can be as effective, or more, as statins when it comes to reducing cholesterol.”
Like many health professionals, Dr. Otulana recommends prioritizing these lifestyle changes alongside drugs if necessary for optimal heart health.
“Lifestyle interventions offer wider cardiovascular advantages and should therefore be hierarchical alongside,” advised Dr. Otulana.
These exercises help increase HDL (“good” cholesterol) while lowering the LDL (“bad” cholesterol).
But beyond diet and exercise, natural compounds offer additional options for cholesterol management.
Bergamot extract, for example, works through various mechanisms, but doubts remain above its long-term safety, warned Dr Otulana.
“Bergamot works through various mechanisms, and red yeast rice contains natural statins, although long -term security is not as well established,” said the general practitioner. “Side effects can be similar to those of prescription statins.”
Although statins can be vital for certain patients, lifestyle interventions such as diet and exercise offer broader cardiovascular advantages, including blood pressure and reduced inflammation.

“Lifestyle changes can improve blood pressure, reduce inflammation and support global heart health,” said Dr. Otulana.
“Aerobic exercises, in particular, help to raise HDL (” good “cholesterol) and lower LDL (” bad “cholesterol).”
Natural compounds such as bergamot extract and red yeast rice offer advantages beyond cholesterol management, offering cardiovascular health and diabetes.
Before trying to naturally reduce cholesterol thanks to a diet and lifestyle changes, it is important to consult a doctor.
