Wilmington, NC (WECT) – A new entertainment center with a bowling alley, a golf simulator and an arcade could arrive at Oleander Drive.

The developers plan to build a structure of 40,816 square feet 40 feet high and two floors at 5601 Oleander Drive. The plan also includes 10,832 additional square feet of future extension space.

The proposed entertainment center will have:

  • an arcade
  • bowling path
  • golf simulator
  • 6 outdoor pickleball shorts
  • restaurant
  • bar

But for the plan to advance, the site must go through conditional rezoning.

Strikes LLC, the company behind the proposed complex, asks the Wilmington Planning Commission to allow the region to be rezoned from a commercial commercial district to a regional business district.

In demand, Strikes LLC says that the Oleander Drive corridor has experienced significant population growth, but not much in entertainment offers.

“In simple terms, you can live and work in new exceptional developments along the Oleander Drive corridor, but where can you come together for entertainment and socialize?” Strikes LLC wrote in the application.

Strikes LLC noted in the application that the addition of the entertainment complex would encourage more projects along the Oleander Drive corridor.

“It is very likely that the successful delivery of this project will increase the incentives to develop other aesthetically pleasant and thoughtful projects in the immediate region to meet the needs of the growing population of Wilmington,” said the application.

The Wilmington Planning Commission will examine the request for conditional rezoning at its meeting on Wednesday, February 5. Reunion begins at 6 p.m.
