As Part of our series Exploration of the way in which New Zealanders live and our relationship with money, an “obsessed” saving and the investor shares his finances.

Gender: Female.

Age: 45.

Ethnicity: Pākehā.

Role: Full -time in technology, no children.

Salary / income / assets: Salary of $ 95,000. Managed of modest investment.

My living location is: Urban.

Rent / mortgage per week: 0 $ – I did not focus on money in my twenties and thirties, so I had an incredible chance of gathering my act and rushing on the property scale just in time before prices become crazy. I bought something modest at a good price and I was able to reimburse it fairly quickly once the accent was there. It is heartbreaking that young people generally do not have this luxury of taking their time these days.

Student loan or other debt payment per week: $ 0 – No student loan. I only buy cheap cars with money and I don’t want expensive toys.

Typical weekly food costs

Grocery stores: Two adults shared a grocery bill of around $ 250.

Eat outside: We are going to a cheap and joyful joint approximately once a week approximately and will spend $ 40. In a fancy location four to five times a year and spend $ 200 +.

Take away: $ 30 in local stores once a week.

Work excitement: $ 15 – I Byo has lunch as much as possible, but I could get something once a week.

Coffee cafes / snacks: I cannot bring myself to buy coffee, it has become so expensive, but sometimes I am too hagard and I need – $ 10 per month.

Savings: I am a little obsessed with the construction of a retirement nest egg right now. Currently, store $ 500 per week in long -term investments and try not to let the lifestyle filid to be one thing. I have been frugal for years by reimbursing the mortgage as quickly as possible, and it was a version, so I would also like to save for a trip abroad and celebrate the milestone.

I worry about money: Rarely.

Three words to describe my financial situation: Lucky, privileged, grateful.

My greatest edible indulgence would be: Hot chips.

In A typical week, my alcohol expenditure would be: $ 10 – A quiet beer or a wine at home. I am not the festive animal I was.

During a typical week, my transport expenditure would be: $ 25 for petrol, $ 20 bus.

I Estimate in the past year the amount of the stadium that I spent on my personal clothes (including night clothes and underwear) was: $ 600 – I try to choose the brands of sustainable underwear and quality clothes as much as possible.

My most expensive clothes in the past year were: $ 60 The used wool rider.

My last pair of shoes costs: $ 100 used in used leather that should last me a few winters.

My grooming / beauty expenses in one year are about: $ 1,500 – This is probably where the lifestyle flipper occurred as I get older. Exist of expensive hair three times a year, facial treatments and skin health care.

My exercise expenses in one year are about: Gymnasium membership of $ 650, $ 100 sneakers.

My cost of the last Friday evening: $ 0 – Film, snacks and a cheap wine at home.

The most regrettable purchase in the last 12 months was: Not much, maybe a cocktail too expensive or something-I pay attention to these days, but when I make a mistake, I upset my shoulders and go quickly.

The most indulgent purchase (which I do not regret) in the last 12 months was: Bitcoin-Perhaps a regret or perhaps the best investment of all time, but it will be an interesting experience and I agree with one or the other result.

An area where I am a little tight is: Coffee.

Five words to describe my financial personality would be: Learn, evolve, repair past errors.

I grew up in a house where money was: Stable but not abundant, with a basic approach to the old school of things. I have always worked and earned my own money, but I had to teach me modern concepts of budgeting, credit, savings and investment. Podcasts were an excellent resource.

The last time my card was refused, it is: A few months ago. I forgot what was in the account and had to mix the funds from one account to another, then put it again.

In five years, in financial terms, I see myself: On the way to retired financial security. Always work and save but enjoy a few treats here and there.

Describe your lower financial: I was lucky to have regular work most of the time and a parental safety net when I was young. I was broke and unemployed several times in my teenagers and 20 years old, but I never felt stressed to repair the situation.

I would like to have more money for: Support artists, events and local businesses. I try to do what I can, but I am not a great spending overall, so my impact is not huge at the moment.

I give money to: Monthly charitable donations and occasional charging donations throughout the year.
