The Ministry of Transport says that the Highway Coquhalla Remains closed in both directions of Hope in Merritt, British Columbia, Saturday due to a abyss.
It will remain closed up to at least 4 p.m. when the next update is expected.

The Ministry of Transport said that the chasm had been discovered Thursday evening by a slow -lane entrepreneur in northern direction.
“The crews responded quickly and determined that the abyss was an isolated incident linked to the boring work of the Pipeline de Trans Mountain in the region,” the ministry said in a statement.
The crews seemed to have corrected the hole by late Friday afternoon, but the route remains closed.
The ministry said that the crews hoped to open the route early Friday afternoon, but geotechnical complications delayed this opening.
The drivers are diverted on Highway 1 or Highway 3 as an alternative routes.
Intense traffic in the region is planned and drivers should allow additional time to go to their destinations.
