The ConnersThe final season is approaching and with it the end of a television era after the series continued the legacy of ABCthe former success of Roseanne.
And as we approach the goodbyes, TV Insider caught up with the show’s star Emma Kenney who plays Harris Conner-Healy, daughter of Sarah GilbertThis is Darlene, who became a sort of head of the family after Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) death.
As previously revealed, ABC will debut the shortened final season sometime in March, and until then, Kenney is offering a sneak peek for die-hard fans. “The final season of our show is only six episodes,” she says, noting, “We’re used to having a lot more breathing room and maybe a few one-off episodes.”
Still, the on-screen family will make the most of their time, as Kenney adds: “This (season), every episode is very intentional and every character has their moment.” In other words, everyone will get the chance to shine in this very special chapter of the comedy that debuted in 2018.
The show arrived as a reformatted version from the network Roseanne revival which was canceled after just one season due to racist comments made by Barr. But is this really goodbye to the Conner family forever? According to Kenney, maybe not.
“It sort of ends with a certain openness,” she reveals. This means fans will find out when they tune in to the latest chapter. “I think it would have been so sad if they had made it a very clear ending,” Kenney adds.
For those who are less familiar with the series, The Conners follows the titular family’s daily struggles to live in Lanford. Along with Kenney and Gilbert, the series stars John Goodman as family patriarch Dan, Laurie Metcalf as Aunt Jackie, Lecy Goranson as Becky and many others.
Stay tuned for more updates on the final season, and let us know what you think of Kenney’s tease in the comments below.
