Florence regional airport (Flo) has teamed up with Beta Technologies, an electric aerospace company based in Burlington, Vermont, to install electric load infrastructure at its airport.
The charger, which is designed to supply the next generation of electric aircraft, marks the first installation of such an infrastructure in the Southern Carolina State.
These chargers, designed and manufactured by beta, are multimodal and interoperable – capable of supplying various types of electric aircraft as well as electric floor vehicles such as cars, vans and trucks.
FLO has installed a level 3 fast charger on the airport airy side, where it will mainly charge electric aircraft and support vehicles.
The airport has also installed a level 2 charger to two ports in the parking lot, which is open to public use.
Officials said that with the addition of this capacity, Flo is well placed to support the future of electrical transport and economic growth and associated employment opportunities for the region.
He said Mike Miller, president of the Florence Chamber of Commerce: “It is an excellent investment for our airport to enter this new technology. It allows KFLO to grow and create new transport options to serve the region and the state of South Carolina. »»
Addition of Gregg Robinson, CEO of Florence County Economic Development Partnership: “My office is ready to help industry and businesses.
The BETA load cube is UL certified, designed to optimize for safety, efficiency and simplicity. With a 50 -foot cord, the load cube can accommodate a variety of planes, whatever their unique conceptions and their ground operations.
The cord is also compatible with the Beta thermal management system (TMS) – a solution focused on cooling battery packs and cabins between flights.
“There are so many opportunities that are accompanied by new aviation technologies, such as low -cost operations, new jobs and economic stimulation,” said Nate Ward, head of development of the Beta Technologies network. “This infrastructure is essential to allow the aviation technology of the future. We are happy to work with Florence regional airport to bring these opportunities in South Carolina.
Addition of the director of the Florence Brad Beadles regional airport: “We are proud to associate with Beta on such an innovative and emerging technology as an electric and evtol avion. We warmly welcome beta customers, business partners and other users of electric aircraft to take advantage of the resources we offer and associate with us while we build a transit center for our region. »»
Florence regional airport joins an increasing network of Beta charging infrastructure built across the United States
Beta brought online loads to 47 locations of the Vermont in Florida site in Arkansas, with more than 20 additional developing sites for public and private use by commercial, military and medical entities.
These sites have been installed in partnership with airports, FBOs and OEM partners across the country, and will help bring electric aviation to urban and rural locations, connecting communities across the country.
In addition to charging solutions, the beta version produces electric aircraft, including an electric aircraft that steals airport at airport, Alia CTOL, as well as a vertical takeoff and electric landing, alia VTOL.
