UC Riverside was honored during the annual embellishment prices of the city of Riverside for its new construction school.
The new four -story building, which Open last fallreceived the Award for Sustainable Design and Innovation as part of the Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful Prize on Thursday, January 30.
The program, now in its 38th year, is sponsored by the major chambers of commerce in Riverside and the Public Works Department of the City of Riverside. He examines criteria such as architectural design, general maintenance and landscaping to recognize important buildings and projects.
The prize was awarded to the state of the city of the mayor Riverside, Patricia Lock Dawson, with Yunzeng Wang, dean of the business school, accepting on behalf of the campus.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the beautiful business school house, which has become a dynamic center for students, teachers and staff,” said Wang.
The 63,400 square feet building includes classrooms, administrative offices and teachers and a large auditorium. It offers the school a advanced installation with an increased place to respond to rapid growth registrations.
By honoring the project, the room has highlighted the lasting characteristics of the building, which include a 216 kilowatt solar network on the roof, perforated metal fins along the windows to reduce dazzling and heat gain and a landscaping tolerant to drought.
The building is Leed Platinum-Status, meeting the main industry standards for energy efficiency and sustainability. It is the third building of the campus to obtain this certification.
“All this is carefully designed to be both functional and beautiful,” said Jacqueline Norman, architect of the campus.
It is the sixth consecutive year that UCR projects were honored during the awards. In recent years, the School of Medicine Building II, the Student Health and Counselling Center and Student Success Center have won prizes.
