A local business owner raises concerns about air conditioning problems at Cottonwood Mall.
Albuquerque, NM – A local business owner raises concerns about air conditioning problems at the Cottonwood Mall.
Dipo Alam, co -owner of the Paleta Bar and Potato Corner, says they were forced to throw nearly $ 2,000 in inventory from one of the two companies he has at Cottonwood Mall.
The air conditioning problem has led to many problems, not only for employees, customers and equipment, but has now achieved a health problem.
Alam says it started in March when he noticed for the first time that the equipment of the two companies began to fail. He has been a tenant at the shopping center for 14 years and when the need has just repaired his equipment, this is done without problem. The concern has increased when the equipment continued to work badly and began to become warmer every day.
“When I call them, they say,” Oh, we know the problem, we work there. Ok, it sounds well.
The concerns increased on Friday when some parts of the inside building reached 100 degrees. Alam says the same day that the health service closed them.
“This is common sense for me that if it does not work, okay, let’s repair it. But three weeks, two months, three months, go. How can we fix it? How will you wait up to 90 degrees to close it? It doesn’t make sense,” said Alam.
Alam invited Kob 4 to see the interior of its two stores on the location of Cottonwood. After a few minutes, we were expelled. Going out, the management of Alam and Cottonwood went back and forth on the issue of air conditioning.
Cottonwood Management begged Alam to give them another chance. Alam replied by saying that management does not give them a break {tenants}.
“You see me as having the confrontation again, I have a personal relationship with him. It is one of my friends, as you said, as you call me brother. I understand. But for me, is not only a question of relationships. What is good is good. What is wrong is bad,” said Alam.
Alam says right now, they have more questions than answers.
“They only see it from their point of view. I do my best. Yes you are. We appreciate it, but at the same time, what about our point of view? What about all these owners? What about paying? What about employees who lose their hours now, and they still have to pay their bills? ” said Alam.
Kob 4 contacted Cottonwood Mall management for an interview with the camera and an update on the situation. They did not respond.
