British Sport obtains a cash injection of more than 900 million pounds from the government to help the staging of major events such as the European male championship Football tournament and largely in the Tour de France.
Money will also be used to help deliver an offer of football associations in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to accommodate the FIFA Women’s World Cup In 2035, the government said Thursday by announcing the commitment to financing.
While more than 400 million pounds are under investment in new basic facilities in Great Britain, the rest of the money will be spent for what the government has described as “major sporting events”.
They include male euros in 2028, organized alongside Ireland, as well as the departures of the Grand from the Tour de France in male and female cycling in 2027 and the European athletics championships in 2026.
“Together, this strategic investment in sport will help manage the government’s mission to launch economic growth by creating jobs, stimulating regional prosperity and encouraging visitors to the United Kingdom,” the government said in a statement.
“It is also designed to reduce obstacles to opportunities, bring together communities through shared national moments and present the best in the United Kingdom in the world.”
