For 50 years, we held in the shoulder to support the children and families of Stark County, helping them to grow, to heal and to prosper through all the challenges.
The behavioral health of children and adolescents (C&A) is a leading non -profit organization here in the county of Stark, but many ignore the large number of lives that we touch every day. We work to change this and find people from the community ready to help us build the next 50 years of hope for young people from Stark County.
We serve more than 4,000 children each year by providing mental health services: a person to talk to, a mentor to help them grow, a place where children with trauma can go to school and a place to hear a reason where nobody is refused because of the income.
Right now, we invite you to become a mission manufacturer and continue this trip. Whether you make a donation, we volunteer or that you brought us to share our history with your workplace, your service club or your religious community, your support feeds the hope and healing that children need. Together, we can make the next 50 years even stronger.
Today’s children face unimaginated challenges 50 years ago. They need to be stronger, more daring and more united than ever for the next 50 years and beyond.
In 1973, the idea of a mental health agency dedicated to children and adolescents was launched by the Stark County Community Health Board (now Stark Mental Health and Addiction Recovery, Starkmhar).
In 1976, a visionary collaboration between education leaders, the family court and jobs and family services gave life to this idea as a children’s and adolescent service center, now known as C&A. At the time, he was revolutionary for a county to create a mental health agency only focused on young people. This commitment laid the foundations for future generations.
Like the families we serve, we have grown and adapted. Our programs evolve as the needs change, and we establish partnerships to help nearby and accessible.
To strengthen our work and maximize resources, we recently consolidated most of the services in three main locations: Belden, Plain and Alliance. Our administrative, clinical, psychiatric, human resources, finance and trainees teams are now working on the side of Belden. Prevention programs, certain multi-systemic therapy services in schools are short of community. Families can visit our alliance office by appointment to the Commons Alliance.
Meanwhile, our informed day processing school in trauma remains at Shippy Building, continuing its vital work with students.
These movements bring our teams closer, arouse collaboration and instill our work with fresh energy and vision. We remain the same attentive people as you know, dedicated to our mission and ready to support each child and family who needs us.
Our success depends on the community we are building. Each child who finds comfort with us, all the parents who trust us and each teacher, coach, pastor, neighbor or community partner who connects a child in difficulty to care is a mission manufacturer.
Mission manufacturers include families and partners such as Starkmhar, Centraide, YMCA, YWCA, Boys and Girls Club of Massillon, JRC, Local nursery schools, school districts and community foundations. Anyone who has been affected by our work and which helps to advance our mission is part of this powerful network.
By thinking about 50 years, we are proud of the programs that show our commitment to meet the changing needs of young people from Stark County:
- Care path: Offer hope and safety to children feeling outdated and alone.
- Justice Program for Minors: Offer a specialized treatment for learning young people to make better choices and support safer school environments.
- Multi-system therapy: a home program 24/7 with a 90% success rate that helps families take up difficult challenges together.
- Treaty from the day to trauma: helping children cure trauma and succeeding on a school level, with a success rate of 95%.
Our staff members build the mission every day. They appear with fierce compassion, skills and dedication. They listen without judgment, find creative answers to complex problems and stand next to families during their most difficult moments. They work in the teams and treat each child as if they were theirs.
Their passion makes Stark County a place where children know they are safe, supported and never alone.
So, are you going to stay with us? Become a mission manufacturer in your own way. Together, we can make sure that every child in Stark County has the opportunity to grow, heal and prosper.
