Kings Beach – A North Lake Tahoe ice cream store obtained an unexpected visitor. The owner of the store captured the video of a bear after helping for an entire ice bath.
Beth Moxley has the Tahoe Time ice cream in Kings Beach. She says she sees more bear now than ever.
She captured the consequences of this last meeting, which occurred in April, on her mobile phone.
Moxley says that it snows at the time and that the business was slow, so she took advantage of it and made a deep cleaning of the store.
She left for a moment, and it was at this point that the bear, nicknamed Cinnamon, took the opportunity to sneak inside and steal a bath of three gallons of ice cream with cookie dough with chocolate chips.
The cinnamon was only caught after being returned for a few seconds.
Moxley has lived in Tahoe for about 40 years and says that bears are becoming cheeky and are less afraid of people.
“It’s like a huge influx of small bears. They are like teenagers who go wild,” she said. “They are fighting to survive, and many of them do not do it. So I think their hunger prevails over their fear of humans.”
While Moxley says the Bears have not been aggressive, she worries about the summer season, with more people in the region.
The Bear League of Tahoe says that there was an increase in meetings, which is why the organization urges people to secure food and garbage, to keep the doors and windows locked, and scare these animals with noisy noises.
