Yokosuka, Japan – The Japanese car manufacturer who loses money is put on his latest “e-power” technology for a turnaround.
A kind of hybrid, e-Power is equipped with both an electric motor and a petrol engine, a bit like The Toyota Motor Corp. Prius. It is different from a prius in that it does not change between the engine and the engine during the reader.
This means that the car still works on its EV battery, ensuring silent and smooth driving.
“Nissan has a proud story of innovative pioneer technology that distinguishes us,” said chief journalists, director of technology Eiichi Akashi, at the touch of a road test at his fat lesson outside of Tokyo.
The advantage of e-power vehicles is that they never need to be invoiced as electric vehicles do. The owner simply feeds in a service station and the car never lacks load.
Nissan Motor Corp., who has accumulated a loss of $ 4.5 billion for exercise in March, sorely needs a hot seller, especially in the Lucrative North American market. But the American market proves a big headache for all Japanese car manufacturers due to President Donald Trump’s pricing policies.
To reach a turnaround, Nissan works on cost reduction, strengthening commercial partnerships and redefining its range. This is where E-Power fits, according to Akashi.
Yokohama Nissan announced earlier this month that he wrote about 15% of his world workforce, or around 20,000 employees, and reducing the number of his car factories to 10 against 17, as part of an ambitious recovery plan led by his New managing director Ivan Espinosa.
Nissan officials have not given a price for the next E-Power models. The only other car manufacturer offers similar technology is “kei” or a small automotive manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corp.
E-Power is already offered on the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail model in Europe, and the note in Japan. The improved version will be offered in the new thug in the United States
Nissan, a pioneer of electric vehicles with his leaf, which was put up for sale in 2010, is also Prepare reinforced EV models. It also works on a semiconductor battery which should replace the lithium-ion batteries now widely used in models of hybrid, electric vehicles and E.
Analysts say Nissan may lack money and needs a partner. Speculation has mounted on its registered office in Yokohama will be sold, or one of its Japanese factories will be transformed into a casino.
Nissan began discussions last year with the Japanese rival Honda Motor Co. for commercial integration but announced in February that he dropped the talks.
