The new Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will bring together an interfunctional team of administrators of the Athletics Department dedicated to strategic planning, optimization of data -based decision -making and the promotion of collaboration between the teams. This innovative unit will offer Ohio State coaches access to cutting -edge analyzes, strategic information and tools designed to clarify and improve key areas such as recruitment, planning, resource allocation and the construction of the list.
“The Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will be able to our coaches with more information, context and clarity to make even better decisions,” said Shaun Richard, deputy director of athletics. “We already have the best sports science team that teams our training, recovery and performance data coaches. This unit will work in tandem with our sports scientists, as well as our commercial and zero strategy teams, to provide the coaches with additional data and achievable information.”
Projects, for example, could include: Understanding what types of student-athletes tend to succeed in certain sports; Identify the features and trends of the school which best indicate university success; And determine the ideal composition of the list of a team given the addition of new Big Ten members.
“The intelligence and strategy that we provide will improve the ability of our coaches to make critical decisions by giving them the most relevant and timely information available – so that they can maintain a competitive advantage in all aspects of their programs,” said Richard.
Ohio State coaches, who are both competitive and curious, are favorable.
“As trainers of Ohio State, we know that the difference between winning and losing is often limited to the smallest details,” said national wrestling coach Tom Ryan. “The Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will discover subtle models and ideas that will give our teams a competitive advantage. While the world of academic athletics is evolving, we know that additional intelligence and strategy will help us stay at the forefront in this very competitive environment.”
By focusing on competitive excellence, the Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will incorporate data and strategic expertise to support long -term planning and real -time decision -making. The fields of impact include recruitment and management of the list, planning strategy, scholarships and budget modeling and other operational aspects.
