A open -air collision Implying two small planes in southern Arizona killed two people on Wednesday morning, the authorities announced.
Federal Aviation Safety Investigators said each plane had two people on board when they collided near Marana regional airport on the outskirts of Tucson.
One plane landed without incident and the other hit the ground near a track and caught fire, said the National Transportation Safety Board, citing preliminary information before the arrival of its investigators.
The Marana police service confirmed that the two people killed were aboard an airplane and said that the stakeholders did not have the possibility of providing medical treatment. Sgt. Vincent Rizzi said the two people in the other plane were not injured.
The municipal fire service has helped extinguish the flames, said Rizzi.

At the end of January, 67 people were killed in an outdoor collision in Washington, DC, involving a jet of American airlines and an army helicopter, marking the deadliest aviation disaster in the United States Since 2001. Just a day later, a medical transportation jet with a patient child, his mother and four others on board have crashed in a district of Philadelphia on January 31, exploding in a fireball that swallowed up several houses. This accident killed seven people, including all those on board, and injured 19 others.
Marana Airport has two tracks crossing and operating without air traffic control tower.
A project of several million dollars was underway to build a tower, but the delays due to the COVVI-19 pandemic construction pushed the construction. Tens of thousands of flights arrive and move away from the airport each year.
Most airports in the United States do not have air traffic control towers, only those with trade traffic are arriving.
To these air spaces, the pilots use a designated radio channel to announce the landing and take -off intentions, said Jeff Guzzetti, a air security consultant and former federal aviation administration and NTSB investigator.
It is not because an airport has no control tower that it is dangerous, he said.
“All pilots should disseminate on this frequency of advice in common circulation. And there is also a responsibility to see and avoid. Each pilot is responsible for seeing and avoiding so that he does not come up against each other, “said Guzzetti.
