The American judge throws the corruption file against the mayor of New York Eric Adams | New policies

The judge ruled that the case could not be relaunched, condemning what he described as an apparent arrangement of the counterpart.

A federal judge of the United States constantly rejected the accusations of corruption against the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, while criticizing the argument of the Trump administration that the case should be abandoned because it hampered the help of the Democratic politician to a repression of immigration.

The request of the Ministry of Justice in February that the case be rejected because it distracts the mayor to help Republican President Donald Trump to intensify deportations sent shock waves through the most populous American city policy.

This prompted eight federal prosecutors to resign from the concerns that the administration raped long -standing standards by allowing political considerations to influence prosecution decisions.

In a 78 -page decision on Wednesday on Wednesday, the American district judge Dale Ho in Manhattan said that he had no choice but to reject the indictment because the American courts did not have the power to force prosecutors to prosecute accusations.

The judge judged that the case could not be relaunched, condemning what he described as an apparent arrangement of the counterpart.

“Everything here feels a good deal: the dismissal of the indictment in exchange for concessions on immigration policies,” HO wrote in his decision.

HO’s decision to reject the case “with prejudice” means that federal prosecutors cannot rely the accusations, eliminating what legal experts say could have been used as a lever on the mayor’s political decisions.

The mayor had faced allegations of wire fraud, corruption conspiracy and solicitation of illegal campaign donations from Turkish sources.

“Today, we are turning the page,” said Adams in a television address, calling the “baseless” case.

Cooperation with Trump

Prosecutors of the Trump administration suddenly sought to abandon the case after Adams reported cooperation with the federal immigration application – a reversal for New York, which operates as a sanctuary city, which means that local police and authorities do not help federal immigration agents in their quest for undocumented migrants.

In March, Adams signed an order allowing access to immigration and customs staff (ICE) to the ISLAND Rikers prison complex, a significant change in policy.

Critics allege that the Trump administration used the accusation as a lever to ensure the mayor’s compliance with immigration. The dismissal prompted several lawyers of the Ministry of Justice to resign to protest.

Ho rejected the allegations of public prosecutor, but warned of conditioning surveys on political obedience.

The argument that probes could be interrupted to avoid embarrassing federal policies was “disturbing,” he said, as it suggests that officials could receive a “special exemption” to align themselves with the priorities of the White House.
