The alumni of Campbell Business Amyah Wiley (’23), Gabrielle Cappola (’23) and Thomas Hartshorn (’19) recently returned to the campus for a lunch “Food for Thought” and learn, where they shared information on the professional development with current sales majors.
Their main advice? Establish connections, take the initiative and defend for yourself.
The panel stressed the importance of making the most of opportunities to gain experience and stands out in the competitive labor market today. Their real prospects have given students precious dishes to take the most out of the university and launch their careers after obtaining the diploma.
Gabrielle Cappola, who now works as account manager at Teksystems, stressed the importance of internships and encouraged students to find ways to distinguish you through participation and leadership in campus organizations. She let the students consider the means of making the difference:
“Make sure you can tell others how you had an impact with your involvement. What did you do?
Amyah Wiley, who is now working in human resources, says that the student’s transition to the employee forced her to take more initiative, but she was prepared because of the experiences she had in the Campbell class and thanks to professional development at college.
“In my opinion, what takes you from your chair (as a student) where I sit are the connections and the exploration,” explained Thomas Hartshorn, associated with the SR. commercial development among state affairs. Hartshorn encouraged students to prioritize relationships and networking, take the time to understand you and learn to assess jobs, businesses and job offers.
