College Station, Texas (KBTX) – 31 students from the Mays Business School gave $ 170,000 to 10 different non -profit organizations Thursday afternoon.
It was part of the ninth annual celebration of verification of strategic philanthropy for the class of strategic philanthropy.
“The first step was to contact the group or owner of the non -profit organization with which we were placed. Then we made some business visits, and which really involved going out on the spot, seeing their offices and asking all the important questions that we had to ask in order to obtain a good scope on the organization as a whole,” said the second second year of Texas A & M. ” guaranteeing our organization in front of our class. ”
The students said that this experience was worth it.
“Recognize the value of being able to give back to those who need it – whether by money or our time – and we make sure that wherever we meet, wherever we find ourselves after university, we simply pay attention to the needs of the communities around us,” said Mary Claire Simpson, the Junior Claire Simpson explained the program on the program and the event.

“It means everything for us because it is actually the biggest gift that we have never received and it will help save the lives of our children,” said the president and executive director of the AVM Alliance Raylene Lewis.
Many non -profit directors were grateful to be selected.
“A few times in life, a person is fortunate to have what I call a moment of” stone in the pond “when we have the possibility of collecting a stone, throwing it in the pond and creating a undulation that survives at that time,” said Colby Street, executive director of Bridge Minister. “This is what happened today. Not only for our organization, but all non -profit organizations here. We will feel the impact and blessing of this class – this organization – for the coming years. ”
Mays students have distributed $ 1.4 million to local non -profit organizations since 2016 and 400 students took the course.
“When students participate in philanthropy, they have a more in -depth overview of community needs and a greater sense of responsibility and objective. This course allows future business students to critically think of the commitment, impact and generosity of the community. He will just write checks.
