In July 2023, Devyn Gale, 19, died while fighting a forest fire near his hometown of Revestoke.
The teenager was crushed by a burning cedar, which collapsed on her.
Devyn’s brother Nolan, also a Bc The service firefighter was nearby and rushed at his aid.
“Her heart was still beating so we didn’t have to perform RCR,” he told Global News.
He says that it was placed on a vertebral column board and stolen. Despite all the efforts, she did not survive.

Later, Worksafe BC identified multiple violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
A report found no evidence that an evaluation of the dangerous trees had been completed before the start of work in the region.

Devyn was among the people honored on the seventh BC Falen Firefighter Memorial on Monday.
The parade and the ceremony included the installation of a new plaque recognizing the firefighters of forest fires which lost their lives to fight against forest fires.
Devyn’s parents attended the ceremony, as well as many dignitaries.
Before his death, Devyn attended a nursing school and was known for helping people.
His family says that his death has caused security improvements, those who will help keep others more safe for the years to come.
