He led to 15 national champions of the NCAA Track, 112 All-Americans, 173 NCAA National Track Qualifiers and 13 national cross-country qualifications of the NCAA. He supervised the design, development and construction of the Cross-Country course in the Lavern Gibson championship which hosted 13 national cross-country championships in the NCAA division I.
The commemorative track of John McNichols will be officially dedicated from April 17 to 19 at the Gibson Invititational, which will also serve as a weekend of elders for the state of Indiana.
