Shreveport, La. (KSLA) – Students in the Stem Enrichment Academy In Southern University, Shreveport graduated on Thursday, June 26!
Students from 8th to 12th year spent part of their summer to discover the world of science and technology.
The Summer Stem Enrichment Academy is the only program in Louisiana that pays children to learn.
Each student received $ 250 on Thursday and their own drone for finishing the two -week program. They also spent their time getting a practical experience that will help them in their future career.
Xavier Williams says he wants to study aerospace engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
“Having practical experience rather than looking at a board of directors, then having the table that read you is very, very useful. Because you can tell me the information, but if I can’t do anything physically, I don’t really understand it,” said Williams.
The Academy also offers other specialties, such as 3D printing, coding and renewable energies. The program is managed according to the first arrival, first served and is offered each summer.
