Large expanses from Ontario, Quebec and a small section of Manitoba are prepared for a humid and winter explosion of time on Saturday, Environment Canada is warning.

The coldest conditions are likely to be close to the border of Ontario-Manitoba in an area sandwich between Hudson’s Bay and Lake Superior, west of Thunder Bay, Ontario, but east of Winnipeg.

Environment Canada has issued Vergus rain warnings for this area, with several millimeters of accumulation of ice possible. The changing temperatures, the freezing rain and the melting snow are all ready to combine to create dangerously slippery conditions, the agency said.

In Toronto, the agency warns against strong winds and rain on Sunday, with a risk that frozen soil could reduce the amount of water absorbed. The city is expected to see winds up to 80 km / h and precipitation up to 20 mm, said Environment Canada.

Thunderstorms may also be in the mixture, according to the special weather press release.
