Stephen A. Smith, host of the “first take” of ESPN, hammered the Democratic Party and suggested that he had “no choice” to consider a race for the presidency.

“I have no choice, because I had elected officials, and I will not give their names, elected officials coming to me. I had people who are experts who told me about people who have a lot of money, billionaires and other politicians. Karl.

Smith reiterated that due to the number of people asking him to consider a race, he must leave the door open.

“Here is the reality: people, literally people, approached me, including my own pastor, for having shouted aloud, who said to me:` `You do not know what God has planned for you. At least, show respect to people who believe in you, who respect you, who believe that you can make a difference in this country, to leave the door for a few years. ” “”

Stephen A. Smith speaks with ABC News when he appeared on “this week” on April 13, 2025.

ABC News

Smith made the headlines earlier this week when he said that he left the door open to a race for the presidency in 2028. The sports commentator and host of his own program – “The Stephen A. Smith Show” – has become a vocal critic of the Democratic Party following his radical losses during the elections of last November, which led to the locking of Washington Trump’s mandate.

Here are more protruding facts from Smith’s interview:

Smith on what he has seen from Trump so far

Black-smith: I don’t like what I see, but I’m not surprised. I mean, this whole tariff war situation is completely ridiculous. I mean, my attitude was, it should have immediately targeted China and all the nations on the planet, for having shouted aloud, launching prices on everyone. In the end, he composed it backwards, as we have seen in the past few days, and people on the right are in arms. Basically, I should say – I mean positively, essentially saying that it was the plan from the start. There does not seem to be a plan. Let’s be very, very clear about this. It seems to be a little very random, and you know that it is just thrown against the wall to see what will remain. But in the end, you know, what you need to applaud them is trying something.

On the way in which his being considered for the president is an indictment of the Democrats

Black-smith: They speak and they speak and they speak. But what can they do? They position themselves to do nothing. I haven’t heard of the Democrats’ prices before the elections, Trump had preached for a long time. The way people denounce his strategy, he was blocked on this subject. They haven’t said anything about it. Instead, they talked about everything, Woke culture, cancellation culture, abortion rights and all these other things. So that was not going to win the elections, and that’s what we have to look at. What is this? What will it take to do the work? This is why someone who is a sports analyst, for having shouted aloud, is in Daggon on polls. Yeah, this is not the case, it is not someone big who goes up in me. It is an indictment against a Democratic Party that has no leadership. He has no vision.

Smith on the appearance of governor Gretchen Whitmer in the oval office

Black-smith: She is governor of Michigan. She has no choice but to do that. And whoever thinks the opposite is only to be stupid, immature and childish. The fact is that she is that she is the governor of a state in the UNITED STATES of America. You must do business with the federal government. He is the President of the United States. You can’t get around it. As a result, you must be an adult in the room and be ready to do business. And whoever encourages him to do otherwise is just to be completely ridiculous.
