Dublin, Virginie (WDBJ) – The County of Pulaski finalizes the plans on the long -awaited sports, a project in preparation for 15 years.

At first glance, it does not look like more than an empty candle factory seated in the middle of Dublin. But the county has a great vision for this – the new center should be the largest multi -purpose leisure facility in Virginia.

“Everything, from esports to robotics through dance, but also the possibility of doing a lot of competitive Aau style, sports visits type.” said the director of the County of Pulaski, Jonathan Sweet.

The entire Sportsplex will include eight basketball / interior basketball fields, two interior lawn football fields, 26 total pickleball fields, a bodybuilding room, a cardio room, a senior room, 1 / 5th of a mile of indoor walking track, an interior sprint track of 110 meters, two sticks with a full-service cramp more.

“There is nothing like what we know with this indoor play area, where parents will be able to exercise and watch their children have fun and be healthy and interact and socialize,” said Sweet.

“We have the impression that we have captured everything from young or active aging, have enough space for everyone,” said Pulaski County Parks and Leisure Director Shay Dunnigan.

When the plans were developed years ago, the objective was to create a space promoting health and well-being. But Sweet said that the $ 10 million project has already become much more than that.

“It will attract people here, it will keep people here,” said Sweet. “But that will give them a different quality of life that they cannot live elsewhere.”

County administration is the hope that Sportsplex will be completed as soon as possible during the summer of 2026 or the following winter at the latest.
