Troy, Michigan (WXYZ) – While the United States is starting to implement prices on a multitude of countries, American buyers could start to see prices increase.

Like many sports, hockey equipment is often made abroad, and sport already expensive could soon become even more expensive.

Inside the Buffalo Wild Wings Arena de Troy, B&R Sports has been selling hockey equipment for over 20 years, helping young and old players for the game.

Sales director Jason Messar says that in average, it would cost $ 400 at $ 500 for a new player to buy all the equipment necessary to get the ice. Given this cost, they do what they can to maintain the prices of parents down. But they sell many important brand names that import equipment from around the world.

“Almost everything comes from the outside of the United States, made in China, Vietnam, Canada, Mexico,” said Messer.

After President Donald Trump announced major prices on several of these countries, suppliers have already told B&R to expect prices to increase by 4% to 8%.

“It would hurt,” said Masser about the price increase. “But again, there are ways to understand it.”

Messer says that customers will probably not see the price of the price before June or July and that it is companies, not B&R, who decide this figure.

“We had to transmit everything that will be the price published by companies,” said Messer. “If they do it at 8% or 10%, we had to do it.”

“This will affect parents of young children who cannot afford it,” said Ted Colby, who has a grandson who plays hockey.

Colby says that he and his son participate both, so that his grandson can play at the highest level, but even with higher prices, he is not against prices.

“I don’t mind,” said Colby. “If prices will improve things in the United States, too bad.”

Todd Fleury has a 5 year old daughter who plays the goalkeeper but is also in support.

“I think this is a positive thing if the countries really come back and say we lower our prices for you, so yes, lower our prices,” said Fleury. “You are already paying a ton to play hockey. You will pay a ton for any sport, travel or anything, so you just have to expect it.”

With so much uncertainty about the amount that these new prices will possibly cost consumers, stores remind customers that this has no impact on what is already on the shelves.

“If you need things, I would probably do it sooner than late because we don’t know what the future has unfortunately in store for us,” said Messer.
