As the Super Bowl approaches, Sony should play a major role in capturing the show with a wide range of cameras and technology.
As an official technological partner of the NFL, Sony will have more than 240 cameras in and around the Superdome Caesars in New Orleans, ensuring that fans around the world obtain an unequaled vision experience.
From playing action to interviews, celebrations and the half-time show, Sony’s equipment will be at the heart of production. Fox Sports, the official diffuser, will use more than 100 Sony cameras, while the Associated Press (AP) and NFL Focus photographers will be based on Sony interchangeable ALPH ™ cameras and electronic mount ledges to capture moments of play .
The role of Sony in the broadcast of the Super Bowl
Sony’s professional broadcasting cameras have been a must for covering the Super Bowl coverage for over a decade, and this year, Fox Sports video and the production partner Game Creek will deploy them through the pre-coverage Match, game and post-match. Key diffusion elements include:
- Cameras position themselves in each area of the goals, along the two touchlines and throughout the stadium, including the Skycam.
- 14 Sony cameras dedicated to streaming content.

Photography: capture every decisive moment
Sony is also the supplier of exclusive imaging and support products for the Associated Press, which will have 14 photographers and 9 on -site publishers using Sony equipment. NFL’s internal photography team, NFL Focus, will also be based on Sony ALPHA ™ cameras and objectives.
To guarantee the fastest possible distribution of images, AP and NFL Focus will use PDT-FP1 transmitter To send photos and videos directly from the camera to publishers in real time. Sony’s Pro Assistance Team will also be on site, offering professional photographers for equipment loans and technical assistance.
Half-time show: a film production
For the fifth consecutive year, the funicular goats will manage the technical production of the Half -time show of the Super Bowl – and for the fourth consecutive year, they chose the Sony Venice 2 as main camera system. With only five minutes to set up before offering a film concert experience to millions, the full frame sensors of Sony and the dissemination compatibility are essential to get there.
