The Columbus Blue Jackets are delighted to associate with First Merchants Bank to recognize the small businesses of our community. Every month throughout the season, a company will be presented as the Small business of the month Presented by First Merchants Bank. The small business of April is Penn & Beech Candle Co.

Lots of candles that go in hand in the basements of their houses on Pennsylvania Street and Beech Street in Indianapolis, the Belles-Sœurs Brianna and Lacey Doles have transformed their passions for perfumes into five stores.

Now transformed into an interstate company, Penn & Beech Candle Co. Extended to Columbus because Lacey is based in the region and graduated from Ohio State University.

The expansion was exactly what the company needed because Lacey said that the community supporting small businesses makes it proud to have one in its university city.

“The simple fact of knowing that we provide not only jobs in the community, but also we are part of this thread of what is happening here in Columbus,” said Lacey. “There is so much action in Columbus, and the simple fact of knowing that we play a piece of this is really cool.”

At Penn & Beech, there is a range of experiences for the lover of candles. In particular, when you go to a store, you can do your own candle and design it according to personal preferences.

“When you come for the experience, you can pick up the three,” said Lacey. “Our perfume expert will help you do this and choose your ship and everything. Then you can really mix it on site and make your own candle. ”

Their signature candles include the “hotel hall” and “cashmere”, but with more than 100 different perfumes – and the possibility of creating yours – there is something for everyone.

The best part of the work for the DOLES sisters is the ability of their family to stay together even by living in two distinct states.

“There is a way to unlock the code to be able to spend time, always best friends, family and being able to travel together,” said Brianna. “We all have our own roles and stay in our ways, but we all have different specialties. It’s fun. “

The Doles were able to attend the Blue Jackets match on April 12 against Washington as guests of First Merchants Bank and see Columbus display a 7-0 victory against visiting capital.
