Six Duke faculty were elected from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
The AAAS Stock Exchange is considered one of the most distinct honors in the scientific community.
THE 2024 scholarship classier consists of 471 scientists, engineers and innovators in 24 AAAS disciplinary sections which are recognized for their scientifically and socially distinguished achievements.
“This year’s scholarship classier embodies excellence and scientific services to our communities,” said Sudip S. Parikh, Director General of AAAS and Executive Editor for the family of scientific journals.
“At a time when the future of the scientific company in the United States and in the world is uncertain, their work demonstrates the value of the investment supported in science and engineering,” said Parikh.
Tradition dating from 1874, this program has awarded eminent scientists over the years such as Maria Mitchell, Steven Chu, Ellen Ochoa, Irwin M. Jacobs, Mae Jemison and Ayanna Howard.
Our newly elected AAAS scholarship holders will be honored for their extraordinary achievements during a celebration in person in Washington, DC, on June 7.
