Most people know the story of Selena Quintanilla, the queen of Tejano music, but a new documentary premiering at next year’s Sundance Film Festival will showcase her life through never-before-seen home videos.
The documentary, titled “Selena and Los Dinos” will highlight Quintanilla’s relationship with his family, a glimpse into their life on tour and his meteoric rise to international stardom. It will also include interviews with those close to him.
The group Selena Y Los Dinos formed in the early 1980s and included Quintanilla’s brother AB and sister Suzette among its members.

The “Como La Flor” singer was tragically murdered by her fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar, in 1995. At just 23 years old, Quintanilla’s career was just beginning. In the 30 years since her death, many fans believe she would have been even more successful if she had been alive today.
Quintanilla’s story has inspired various films and television shows about her life, including the 1997 film “Selena,” starring Jennifer Lopez — which was inducted into the National Film Registry in 2021 — “Selena Remembered,” a documentary narrated by Edward James Olmos, and the Netflix show “Selena: The Series,” starring Christian Serratos.
The 2025 Sundance Film Festival will take place in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah from January 23, 2025 to February 2, 2025.
