BOZEMAN, MT: Scott Trepanier has joined outdoor media and consumer products company MeatEater in the newly created role of senior vice president of marketing, effective Monday.
Trapanier is responsible for overseeing marketing for the entertainment and consumer products industries, he said.
“What really attracted me to MeatEater is that they offer a really high set of values and they really focus on conservation,” Trepanier said. “They’re really working to understand where we fit into where food comes from, how it’s grown and how it’s processed. Getting the value of that out to a wider audience, I think is really exciting.
The entertainment business includes a Netflix series, outdoor cookbooks and the MeatEater podcast, while the hunting gear side of the business includes a collection of brands in the hunting space.
Trépanier plans to “build on brand, product and storytelling campaigns, and start to build an emotional connection with certain brands,” he added.
Trepanier reports to Jason Bergsman, CEO of MeatEater. Trépanier supervises between 12 and about 20 staff members, he said.
For 14 years, Trepanier served in marketing roles at Columbia Sportswear. His last role was Vice President of Marketinga role he said he “doubted” Columbia had filled.
“I think it’s going to take them a while to understand what it looks like when I come out,” he said.
A request for comment to Columbia was not immediately returned.
MeatEater Inc. was founded by writer and television and podcast host Steven Rinella in 2018. It is based in Bozeman, Montana.
