Hamilton died Thursday from natural causes at his home in Chicago, his former director and publicist, the Reverend Calvin Carson, told Hollywood Reporter.
She was 95 years old.
Carson published a long declaration on his Facebook page after Hamilton’s death, noting that his “remarkable heritage continues to go up and inspire”.
“His illustrious career, covering more than five decades, has left an indelible brand in the world of entertainment, motivating the public around the world thanks to his work as a model, scene, cinema and television actress,” he wrote. “Her captivating performances in notable works such as” Sanford and Son “, where she played the nurse Donna Harris,` Dangerous Women “,` Roots: The Next Generation ”, “ a Dream for Christmas “,` `Generations ”, (The First Black Soap Opera),` The Waltons, Blues, “continues to inspire new generations” and “Dame Sings”.
