DUNEDIN – The defensive star Andres Gimenez was the acquisition of Toronto features in the trade of four players between the Blue Jays and the Cleveland Guardians last December.
But the right -hander Nick Sandlin was not a simple return. The anime-article gives the Toronto succession team an essential variety and depth of Toronto.
“He is in a way the underestimated guy of the enclosure of the lifts,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider on Saturday. “I was just as delighted to do it as we were Andres.”
Sandlin displayed a file of 8-0 and an average of 3.75 made in 68 appearances last season. He achieved 68 stick withdraws in 57 2/3 rounds and held opposing strikers to an average of .222.
“It is really useful,” said Schneider. “Maintenance low and understands exactly what to do to be good.”
The choice of second round in the south of the Mississippi made its debut in the big league with Cleveland in 2021. He impressed in his recruit campaign and mainly served as a reliable option.
Sandlin has a strong separator he uses with a slider and a quick ball from the mid -90s. His unique arm angle made him a particularly attractive option by changing the look on the mound.

67th overall repechage selection in 2018, Sandlin had spent his entire career in the League with Cleveland. The Guardians acquired the first base player Spencer Horwitz and the outdoor prospect Nick Mitchell in the agreement.
Sandlin said he needed a little time to be exchanged for the first time.
“After a few days, I started to be excited about what will happen,” he said. “I am happy to be here and I’m ready to roll.”
The addition of Gimenez, on the other hand, gives the Blue Jays a solid nucleus in the intermediate field with the return of a bichette of soundtrack after an injury campaign. Gimenez won the Gold Glove Award at the second goal for three consecutive seasons.
“He’s someone that launchers like to have behind them,” said Sandlin. “He’s just a very complete player.”
Toronto’s enclosure of lifts fought powerfully during a campaign of 74-88 last year, finishing the last in the American League at the time (4.82).
Former Jordan Romano by Markham, Ontario, was not tense by the team. Jeff Hoffman, who has signed a three -year contract as a free agent, should fulfill the ninth round position.
Yimi Garcia, who was moved to the deadline for trade last summer, returned to a two -year contract. Chad Green and Erik Swanson are other high lever-effect options in an enclosure of the lifts which will probably include Sandlin, the Gaucher Brendon Little and perhaps Yariel Rodriguez.
Among the many lifts in the running to make the cup of the big leagues are Zach Pop from Brampton, Ontario, Ryan Burr and Nick Robertson.
“I thought we had done a good job to add guys who have great history of success,” said Green. “Obviously, Hoffman and recover Yimi is huge and Sandlin (too), I thought we added good pieces.
“Obviously, the name of the game is to stay healthy and let the guys do their thing.”
On the mound, Sandlin will block his frame of five feet 11 inches from 175 pounds at the bottom and will explode forward with a long extension. Coupled with a slit of the weapon on the right and a variety of angles of the wrist, it is a delivery which can let the opponents to guess.
“It’s different and that’s what you want in an enclosure,” said Green. “You don’t want eight guys to do exactly the same. I think it’s great that it is different from the rest of us.
“You need a guy who is a bit funky and who has this aberrant terrain.”
