Sacramento’s new entertainment permit for small sites could stimulate nightlife

Sacramento – There will soon be more dance, DJ and live music to Sacramento.

Sacramento’s nocturnal economy director Tina Lee-Vogt said many places such as wine bars, cafes, bookstores and breweries were unable to offer live music in the past due to high city costs.

“The cost of a license is about $ 2,200 for a permit of two years, and he brought people out,” said Lee-Vogt.

Now, the leaders of the city of Sacramento create a new entertainment permit for sites of less than 300 cheaper people with fewer regulations.

“There will not be the same requirements for security agents and scanners, so we really hope to make it a much easier process,” said Lee-Vogt.

Ernesto Delgado has Octopus Peru and several other Sacramento restaurants. He hopes to ask for the new license and offer live groups for his customers.

“For small restaurants, it certainly helps to do business, so I am very appreciable towards the city to do so,” said Delgado.

There are currently around 70 companies that have permits for live groups, DJs and dance. This number could now double under the new rules, creating more jobs for musicians.

“We have so many local groups that cannot find places to play”

Another goal of the city is to extend live music opportunities for people from other neighborhoods across the city.

“Instead, people should always come to the city center, they may be going to their neighborhood cafe and seeing a local group,” said Lee-Vogt.

Owners like Delgado hope that the addition of entertainment will attract even more customers.

“It gives a restaurant another assurance that this is perhaps another way of helping to stay in business,” he said.

The new rules will also not require a license to organize nights in Trivia. The city hopes to start offering permits in June.
