During the April 24 meeting of the Rotary Club of Tehachapi, the president of service of the club Rhonda Brady thanked the Mountain Bible Church for its generosity and the support for the 12 days of the collection of Christmas products.
Each year, the Rotary Club of Tehachapi is heading to the food collection, encouraging the community to set up food boxes that will go to families and the elderly in need in the large Tehachapi region.
The Rotary Club publishes and distributes a list of 24 pantry staples, two articles on each of the 12 Christmas days, and Brady updates the list each year. The list contains foods such as rice, peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned meats, pasta, soups and other items that can be used to prepare a nutritious meal. In addition, many people also give useful items, such as toiletries, socks and blankets, which make a good set of care for recipients. Rotary is associated with the city of Tehachapi, which provides personal delivery at home from all boxes.
Brady underlined the dedication and commitment that Mountain Bible Church has for the project, because the church allows the Rotary Club to use space in its establishment to store thousands of food products for several weeks while donations come from the community. The church also allows Rotarians to access a large meeting room to pack and prepare up to 125 distribution boxes.
Brady said that although Pastor George Alaniz is rather new, Linda Lichtenwaldt has been there for several years. She played a decisive role in the success of the Drive Drive, and she is always arranged and flexible to help Rotarians with everything they need. She has often made a special trip to unlock the door so that the CUB can deliver donations, even on leave!
To thank Mountain Bible Church for its support and generosity, the Rotary Club of Tehachapi presented its members a donation of $ 500, which, according to Pastor George, was “very appreciated and would be used”. Brady also presented a card to Lichtenwaldt which contained gift cards given by club members, and a beautiful crown, which was tailor-made for her by Karen Munson, the wife of Rotarian Jerry Munson.
