Rock Slide draws 1 dead, others seriously injured in Banff National Park

Thursday afternoon, a large emergency intervention was sent to the Rocky Alberta Rocky mountains after a rocky slide made several wounded hikers and that Global News learned that at least one person died.

It happened near Bow Glacier falls Banff National ParkAbout 37 kilometers north of Lake Louise along the 93 ice champs road.

The Alberta RCMP said that Lake Louise’s frosts and firefighters had been called to the Bow lake Falls Trail at 1:30 p.m.

According to the RCMP, several hikers have been struck by a rock / landslide and “there can be serious injuries and / or deaths”, but the police could not say how bad they were or how many people are injured, because it was always an event in progress.

Stars Air Ambulance said that Star-1 of Calgary and Star-3 of Edmonton responded to the emergency and each air patient at the Foothills medical center in Calgary in an unknown state.

“We have lost a member of our hiking family today. Jutta Hinrichs was a beautiful caring soul with a huge smile and the love of people and nature. We have just celebrated birthdays in April together,” they said.

“Jutta used to drive the elderly to meetings and to the grocery store. She was an occupational therapist and taught and supervised and won a life of life for her work. ”

Parks Canada leads the emergency response near the Arc glacier falls.

The Federal Agency said that the security teams for visitors to the national parks in Banff and Jasper responded, with the support of other agencies.

Temporary closures are expected on motorway 93 near Bow Lake to allow emergency workers to work. Parks Canada asked visitors to avoid the region on Thursday.

According to Parks Canada, the Bow Glacier Falls Trail is a hike of moderate difficulty over 4.4 kilometers with one direction, with an altitude gain of 190 meters, which lasts about three hours round trip.
