Indianapolis (AP) – Rob Gronkowski will play an entertainment role for his first Indianapolis 500 next month, serving as a big marshal for the “snake pit”, the festival on the ground that takes place during “the biggest race show”.
Gronkowski played 11 seasons in the NFL before retiring after the 2021 season. He is now a studio analyst in the NFL for Fox, who took over as an exclusive broadcaster of the Indycar series and Indy 500.
“This is one of the coolest combinations of sports and music there and in the ultimate place,” said Gronkowski in a statement on Wednesday. “I’m ready to start the party and celebrate the world’s largest race.”
The Illenium dance producer will be the head of a range of world electronic music artists in the Snake Pit in Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tour 3 during the May 25 race. Sammy Virji, two friends, Kayzo and Oliver Heldens should occur.
Gronkowski Fox analyst Michael Strahan is expected to drive the rhythm car for the 109th Indy 500 race.
