Rio Ferdinand confirmed that he would withdraw from his role as an expert with the TNT Sports broadcaster.
The former defender of Manchester United and England, 46, worked for the company, previously known as BT Sport, for 10 years, but will retire to focus on “other commercial interests” and time with the family.
Ferdinand’s last match will be the final of the Champions League on Saturday between Paris St-Germain and Inter Milan in Munich (8:00 p.m. BST).
“Since his retirement from football, it’s a privilege to talk about the game that I have liked for a decade,” said Ferdinand in a Declaration published on his account X,, external.
“I want to recognize the huge support of the team behind the scenes, whose hard work is often invisible but was essential to our success.”
