Central Coast, California (Kion -TV) – The Ministry of Education sent a letter from “dear colleague” announcing a threat to federal funding on any university establishment which considers the race in student admissions and other services.
Admissions, hiring, scholarships, discipline and some other student lifestyle services are included in this change, according to the Ministry of Education.
They also indicate that it will start to assess compliance at the latest at 14 days from sending the letter. The letters were initially sent to institutions on February 14.
“The dear colleague letter, as she had no impact on our student admission,” said the superintendent and president of the Hartnell College, Michael Gutierrez. “We do not discriminate with our admission policies, and we are an open registration institution, and this will continue to be the case in the future.”
Gutierrez added that it was impatient to receive more clarification on the letter in the coming weeks.
