Pure Storage launched Enterprise Data Cloud (EDC).
He also announced new high performance flash paintings And the availability of this year of a direct direct direct flashmodule of 300 TB (Téraoctet), including a semiconductor player (See the box).
Also added to EDC – and announced during its Accelerate event in Las Vegas this week – is the capacity to create in the application and the orchestration specific to the workload which combines storage, server, networking and application configuration.
Above all, EDC is a grouping of Pure storage Architectural elements. It is the purity operating system, which is common to all company tables; Fusion, which allows the discovery and management of storage resources; Pure1, which allows the management of the fleet in terms of performance and detailed management of resources; and Evergreen, who is the company’s consumption purchase offer This allows supply as a service.
But it is a grouping of existing elements which look at the dominant current established of the cloud operating models and is based on common architectural and operating elements through the pure storage range.
All of this combines to provide a cloud storage management environment that Pure understands will allow customers to implement “declarative management and policies,” said technology director Rob Lee (In the above photo).
The way in which pure managers have presented EDC is that it provides “higher level concepts” in storage management which will allow customers to focus on commercial results rather than infrastructure management. Thus, instead that the administrators had to manage individual tables and provision storage to a very granular level – configure volumes on a specific table for specific application requirements – which will be replaced by the results focused on the workload.
“If we look at a lot of challenges with whom we see the customers struggling with today, it comes down to many elements that are really inherited,” said Lee. “Things like having to do a lot of manual management, to conduct ineffectiveness, to manage tons of individual silos that do not maximum the resources you have on the ground.”
He continued: “We have the opportunity to take some of these lessons in the world of consumption, to take some of the lessons in the world of the public cloud and to bring them to the company.”
In other words, customers will not need to specify the management of step by step storage activity, but will allow the system to decide the details. This, in turn, will allow greater visibility and control the data of the organization.
“I can transform my way of thinking, to manage, to catalog my data sets and to think of the data that I have seated from where, for what purpose, where it comes from, how it is secure, what policies are provided for this, etc.”, said Lee. “For the moment, with too many data data fingerprints, these are questions that we cannot even answer because people do not have good driving on the data where.”
EDC will allow IT organizations to provide storage from on -site and cloud capacity. It will not be able to directly include the storage capacity of third parties, although it will speak to the storage provisions of other suppliers via application workload models which are another key element of the EDC ad.
Pure said it would provide thousands of workflows orchestrated for specific applications. These connect the pure environment to third-party applications, such as Cisco, VMware, ServiceNow and Slack. Pure executives call these “recipes” that customers can create for specific applications, with wider, or “menus” collections, possible for several applications and workloads. It also expects customers to write their own or get them third parties.
In addition, Pure has teamed up with the Rubrik data protection supplier, where the latter’s cyber-surveillance capacity triggers pure snapshots to give The most recent snapshot as possible Before ransomware or similar infection.
Last year, Pure announced a co -pilot of the AI, which allowed customers to interact with their storage in the fleet and to ask questions about this in natural language. This went from the beta version to general availability during this year’s event.
Last year, Pure launched Pure Pure Protect, which offers a recovery after claim as a service. Then he offered the recovery of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. During this year’s event, he announced that customers could recover VMware environments from a second VMware deployment.
