Preston, Minnesota (KTTC) – A lettuce and tomato farmer in Preston works to keep his family and healthy things after his wife was seriously injured in a car accident.
Now that work and life seem different, Andrew Serio asks for the community’s help.

You may have seen its large Red Serio Farms truck in southeast Minnesota.
If it is not on his farm, he spends most of his time delivering lettuce and fresh tomatoes to local markets and restaurants.
“Many people know me from the Rochester farmer market and love my tomatoes that I produce,” said Serio.

Now, with his wife who recovers a car accident, the work has been much more difficult.
On February 25, Jenny, Andrew’s wife, was on his way to visit her father in Winona when she was hit head on by another driver due to frozen roads.
Jenny has undergone a broken hand and hip and will need a hip replacement. She receives medical treatment at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester
On the Serio farm, Jenny was of great help in their lettuce greenhouse. She also worked at the Preston BP service station.

Now that Jenny should be unemployed for six months to a year, Andrew must work much more difficult to pay for medical expenses while holding the farm.
“It did a lot. We have instantly gone from a family twice to a family to an income. It’s hard not to see the person you love who is now injured, “said Serio.
Serio expressed that he wanted to go to his wife every day, but it can be difficult because of the busy farm and distance.
Serio pushes products in its greenhouses to provide fresh lettuce and tomatoes to the community all year round.
This can be difficult work, but it is the passion of Serio, and the community can support it by shopping from its local business.
