The Portland Timbers announced their replacement for the Superstar that came out Evander, completing the signature of the goalkeeper David Costa for signed costs of $ 6 million.
The Cascadia Club would have agreed to sign the Portuguese midfielder earlier in the winter window, but was waiting to finalize the sale of Evander at FC Cincinnati.
Costa collected 23 goal contributions in 123 games for the lateral goal of Ligue 1, after progressing in their youth configuration.
He will become the centerpiece of an attack on the Tibers which set club strikes in 2024, joining Jonathan Rodríguez, Felipe Mora and Santiago Moreno at the top of the alignment of Phil Neville.
“We are delighted to add a player with David’s capacities and pedigree,” said Timbers Director of Timbers Ned Gobavoy.
“He has already shown his qualities at a very competitive level, both in French League and in European competitions.
“This commitment speaks volumes about David’s ambition to leave the club in which he grew up to play an even more important role here with the Timbers of Portland.”
