Lawton, okla. (KSWO) – Political science is exactly what it looks like, the science of politics.
The president of the Cameron Social Sciences Department, Dr. Lance Janda, says that students learn how political systems work, the effects of public opinion and the media and international affairs.
“We give a large well-balanced program,” he said, “you get some exposure to each element of political science.”
This program focuses on face -to -face learning so that students can often interact with their teachers.
Apart from the class, there are great opportunities in each branch of the government so that students can learn and work, according to Janda.
“We asked students to work for the governor and for the members of the Congress and the members of the state legislature,” he said, “they get on board with their campaigns and will then work for them, so it’s an option. It is also a diploma of range for labor markets or for higher education. ”
However, this is not a question of the government’s study. In fact, you can acquire skills that can be applied almost everywhere.
The skills of critical reflection and analysis being the main objective of the majors in political science, Janda says that there are many career paths to explore.
Students have the opportunity to work in law, education or public affairs.
“The diploma will open doors,” he said, “you may not know what doors they will open, but that will open doors to you.”
