Police remain silent while News of Scotland missing Kids Investigation strikes week 3

He has now marked three weeks since two young brothers and sisters were missing from their home in a rural part of Nova Scotia, and the police remained close to any indication on their fate.

Lilly and Jack Sullivan, aged six and four, were missing on the morning of May 2 at their home on Gairloch Road at Lansdowne station, NS, about 140 kilometers northeast of Halifax.

The RCMP had previously declared that the brothers and sisters would have “distant”. They noted that there was no evidence of kidnapping, so it was not an Amber alert.

A long and wide search, with more than 160 people, followed who covered 5.5 square kilometers of rural terrain strongly wooded with research dogs, helicopters and drones.

The next day, on May 13, the police provided an update via a press release where they reiterated their commitment to find the brothers and sisters and said that new information will be published when they are available.

“We continue to work day and night on this file,” said the staff sergeant. Curtis Mackinnon with the County RCMP of Pictou said in the declaration of May 13. “Like all Scottish Nova, we want answers and we want to know what happened to these children.”

In addition, the police said that the investigators identified 35 people for official interviews as part of the investigation. This includes community members and people closest to children, police added.

The children’s stepfather, Daniel Martell, told Global News last weekend that he was grateful for the efforts of the authorities and volunteers who were looking for Lilly and Jack.

In a Sunday update, the RCMP said that 115 volunteers were released on May 18 for renewed research in the field and in the air.

“The search for this weekend will be carefully examined and evaluated by investigators and research managers to help plan other research efforts on the field and air,” said force.

Disappearance triggered creeping speculation on social networks – Much of the targeting of Martell and the mother of children. Martell calls all this “absurd”.

“It will never be enough for people online. Wherever I go, people look. It is something with which I have to live until the truth is done-and the truth is always its way,” he said.

When asked if he had something to do with the disappearance of children, he was categorical in his response.

“I did not do it 100% and I will hold this to my last day on this planet,” he said.

Martell told the Canadian press that he had voluntarily attended a four -hour interview with major crime investigators.
