About this report
The information compiled in this report is for the month of January 2025.
PMI Hospital® Was developed in collaboration with the association for Health Care Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM), an association for the Health Care Supply Profession and a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association (AHA).
The data presented here is obtained from a survey of hospital supply leaders according to the information they have collected within their respective organizations. Ism® makes no representation, other than that indicated in this version, concerning the data collection procedures of the individual business. The data must be compared to all other sources of economic data when used in decision -making.
Data and presentation method
THE Hospital Ism® Business Report® is based on compiled data from purchasing managers and hospital supplies nationwide. The responses to the survey reflect the change, if necessary, during the current month compared to the previous month. For each of the measured indicators (commercial activity, new orders, employment, deliveries of suppliers, inventories, prices, prices: pharmaceuticals, prices: supplies, backwards, imports, feeling of inventory, case mix, days payable, technological spending and contactless orders), this report shows the reporting percentage each response and the diffusion index. The responses represent raw data and are never modified. From January 2021THE Business Report® Staff and consultants collect market information to better validate the export index. Export index data is always collected.
PMI Hospital® is a composite index calculated from the following indices, also weighted: commercial activity, new orders, employment and supplier deliveries. The diffusion indices have the properties of the main indicators and are practical summary measures showing the dominant direction of change and the scope of change. A Hospital PMI® Reading the index greater than 50% indicates that the hospital sub-sector is generally expanding; Below 50%, indicates that it is generally down. For sub-index, with the exception of supplier deliveries, a index reading greater than 50% indicates that the sub-index is generally expanding; Below 50%, indicates that it generally contracts. A delivery index of suppliers greater than 50% indicates more slow deliveries and less than 50% indicates faster deliveries.
THE Ism® Business Report® The investigation is sent to respondents to the panels of the hospital business hospital the first part of each month. Respondents are invited to report only on US operations for the current month. Ism® Receives responses to the survey during most of the months given, the majority of respondents generally await until the end of the month to submit responses to give the most precise image of the current commercial activity. Ism® Then compiles the release report on the fifth working day of the following month.
