Calgary police are making another public appeal for information on collision in Pineridge Wednesday that killed a pedestrian.
Emergency crews were called shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of 64th Street (also known as Rundlehorn Drive) and 26th Avenue Northeast for reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle and was trapped underneath.
Police identified the crash victim as a 17-year-old girl who they said was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when she was struck.
The driver of the vehicle, a gray 2019 Ford EcoSport, was identified as a 75-year-old woman, who remained at the scene of the accident.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the collision, but police say the driver who failed to obey a stop sign is being investigated as a contributing factor .
A Pineridge resident who spoke to Global News shortly after the accident said: community concerns about people not stopping at the intersection were ignored.
“It was inevitable that this would happen. I have repeatedly asked the city to install pedestrian lighting. It would be nice if we had traffic lights, but that’s never going to happen – but maybe now the city will listen.”
Ward 10 councilor André Chabot told Global News that he visited the area a few months ago with representatives from the city’s highways department and they identified some problems with the sidewalk in the area. sector, but there is a process to follow.
“I can tell you, I’m already working on trying to make improvements to that intersection,” Chabot said. “But now with this incident, obviously I’m going to have to see if our city manager can get involved and see what improvements can be made before I bring it up to council, because I can’t ask the administration to do that . »
“The City conducts thousands of intersection reviews each year,” Chabot added. They do an assessment based on the number of vehicles, the number of pedestrians, the number of interfaces between pedestrians and automobiles – and they will make a recommendation on what we should or shouldn’t do.
By Thursday afternoon, someone had placed a small memorial at the intersection for the 17-year-old victim.
