A fresno company that has been formed in the pandemic taken recently made the favor of giving a time of need, providing an emotional assistance essential to firefighters fighting against forest fires in southern California earlier this month.

The papa cookies, founded in 2020 at the pandemic of Covid-19, went to a rescue center based in Malibu for emergency stakeholders fighting the fire of Palisades last week, distributing cookies and sharing inspiration.

The owner of the papa cookies launches Sanchez, Haivyn, lives in the Los Angeles arts district. Although this is not too close to fires, it was close enough to require wearing N95 masks when traveling outside.

“To see a catastrophe like this one performing almost right before our eyes … I spoke to Haivyn to make sure that she was fine, then we started to think about what we could do,” said declared Sanchez.

Sanchez also has links in the Los Angeles region, having done business in the past.

Sanchez said the goal was to bring the feeling of a warm cookie and a good conversation for firefighters and volunteers, many of whom worked over 24 hours or more.

“Many of them remain (remained) in tents there; Some of them I heard had worked 24 hours a day, 24 hours off, “he said. “We had firefighters who had just stopped. They came to us to get a cookie and always had ashes on their faces. ”

Sanchez added that dad cookies were born during the handles of a different disaster and estimated that the connection of disasters coinciding with positivity was symbolic.

“See (Haivyn), his boyfriend and my nephew, they are young people, and see them stand there and converse with (firefighters), and trying to bring them a little light atmosphere was a really interesting thing to see” , he said. “To bring them a little bit of their home – that’s really what we are making our efforts.”

Sanchez said that the environment of the rescue center was occupied, with many food and sanitation trucks on the spot, including the restaurant truck of the famous chef Guy Fieri. Local chefs were on site to provide full -fitting meals for firefighters and volunteers.

Gift with a cause

There are two locations of cookies of dad – one in Fresno and Lemoore.

Before their departure, Sanchez met his team and discussed the ways of supporting the efforts financially.

Sanchez’s father, George, spent a large part of his incarcerated young life. Lance himself had no close link with his growing father, limited to visits and short-term interaction between prison sessions.

Everything changed when George discovered employment through the penitentiary system in the imprisoned firefighters offered by the Ministry of Correctional Services.

George, who was then in the forties, signed to become an imprisoned firefighter.

“All of a sudden, he has completely changed,” said Lance. “Before talking about other things that would continue (in prison) and for me, it was like a negative thing … as soon as he became imprisoned firefighter, everything has changed.”

Sanchez said his father, once released, felt more than one goal and had changed his life.

“He has mainly become a father,” said Lance. “He and I had a solid relationship from that moment.”

This was inspired to donate 15% of dad cookies during a recent Friday to the anti-recidism coalition, a non-profit organization that supports individuals and defenders formerly incarcerated in the reform of criminal justice.

The non -profit organization also organizes incarcerated fire fighting units, providing uniforms, equipment and correctional coordination agents to chaperon firefighters.

Sanchez hopes that thanks to their gifts and their aid, firefighters who fought devastating forest fires have not only found hope and inspiration, but also that his business is able to spread positivity and Provide assistance whenever possible in future disasters.
